Fans’ Challenge Begins Saturday at Bowman Gray

(Bowman Gray Stadium, Winston-Salem, NC) In a few days, the challenge will be issued. And competitors have 15,000 reasons to pay attention.
The amazingly popular Fans’ Challenge makes its return to Bowman Gray Stadium again in 2017, offering daring drivers the chance to win up to $15,000 this season. Its first appearance will be this Saturday in the Kevin Powell Motorsports 100 for the Brad’s Golf Cars Modified Series.
For Modified Series 100-lap races, the field randomly draws for position. That means the faster cars could be starting at the front, in mid-pack, or even towards the rear.
The Fans’ Challenge gives the fastest four qualifiers a tough choice. They could draw for position with the rest of the field… or they could take the challenge and elect to start in the rear.
Why would a driver want to start in the rear? Because if they fight back to a top four finish, they will have completed the Fans’ Challenge and will split a $3,000 prize pool. Any unclaimed money from one 100-lap race rolls over to the next, creating a larger prize pool. With five 100-lappers in 2017, $15,000 is on the line.
Last season, no one claimed the $3,000 for the first challenge or the second challenge – rolling the prize pool over to build a massive $9,000 award. Lee Jeffreys of Wallburg fought forward with everything he had to complete the challenge during the third 100-lapper and win the $9,000.
The year before, Burt Myers of Walnut Cove successfully completed the challenge to grab $6,000. Danny Bohn of Huntersville grabbed $3,000 in the next 100-lapper, and Lee Jeffreys of Wallburg mopped up the remaining $6,000 by completing the challenge in the last 100-lapper.
Fans were on their feet as their favorite drivers fought hard to break into the top four, and just as many eyes were on the Fans’ Challenge competitors as on the race leaders. A new dimension was added to the racing that you won’t want to miss!
The excitement continues this Saturday night with the Kevin Powell Motorsports 100 presented by 100.3 KISS FM. Also on the schedule is racing for the Texas Steak & Tap House Sportsman Series, the Q104.1 New Country Street Stock Series, the Law Offices of John Barrow Stadium Stock Series – and the night will end with the always wild 109 U-Pull-It Chain Race.
Gates open at 6:00 for practice, and the first race begins at 8:00 PM – this Saturday night. Ticket prices, directions, and more information can be found online at or by calling (336) 723-1819.
